Two-page project proposal & presentation:  due January 30 (2-slide for presentation due to Chris & Wolfgang on January 30, 1pm)

Each student will write a two-page research proposal for a group project and briefly present that proposal (4-7 minutes with TWO slides).  Each student will choose a set of projects that they are interested in and we will assign groups based on the proposal quality and other student’s expressed interest.  Groups will integrate students in multiple disciplines, and may involve individuals across the BEACON institutions.  We also plan to assign each group to a more senior research willing to provide advice.  Instructions for Project Proposals

Each group will be required to present their research project using clear presentation techniques as taught in class.  These final presentations will be approximately 30 minutes.

Final project paper: due April 26, 11:59pm

You will write up the results of your research project in the form of a journal paper submission using the PLoS format (see below), which we hope many of you will choose to submit. As this is a group project, part of the grade will be determined by the overall manuscript, as well as individual grades based on the evaluation of the instructors (and guided by peer input).
